New Values Launch
We focused our efforts on demonstrating Equality and Empathy in school last half term. The children were excellent ambassadors of this value, and many received recognition of their efforts through award badges, certificates or mentions in praise assemblies. This half term, our focus is Kindness and Care- the two values central to our whole school vision and ethos. These values were launched in assembly last week with a focus assembly based upon being a ‘bucket filler;’ remembering to complete small acts each day for other people both around school and at home. There will be a focus display in school linked to this and the children receiving recognition will have their photograph displayed there.
Following the success of last half terms’ initiative, the school Equality Team will be leading this focus once again. We are planning to relaunch our Right Choice tickets with a new ‘Act of Kindness’ recognition award. This will be awarded to children who are observed behaving in a kind of caring way, not doing so to seek recognition but as part of their everyday behaviour. Acts will include recognising other children’s successes, displaying a polite and friendly manner around school and helping out with classroom jobs without being asked. Teachers, teaching assistants and midday supervisors will all be looking out for these acts throughout the week and the children observed will be awarded a special ‘Act of Kindness’ certificate in the Praise Wall assembly.
The children at Barlby Bridge are excellent ambassadors or our school values and we are excited to recognise the pupils who ‘always’ put in this extra effort without asking for reward or recognition. The Equality Team have designed a Kindness badge, the first of which will be given out in assembly this week.
