Equality Team News

Mrs Herrington and three members of the Equality Team: Wiki Rej, Emelia Potter and Charlie Bolshaw, were invited to attend this year’s Pupil Voice conference in Harrogate last Friday. They attended various workshops during the day including;

• Refugee Voices
• Learning about keeping yourself heathy, safe and about healthy relationships: How good is your school?
• Parliament – how it works
• Stub out drugs
• How Can I Cope?! Strategies To Support Your Mental Health
• Celebrating Difference

Also included within the day, the children took part in a question and answer session with some very important influential people. Some of which included; Dr Maggie Atkinson (Chair of North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children board); Jayne Hill ( Head of North Yorkshire Children’s and Young People Commissioning Team) and Richard Flinton (Chief Executive of North Yorkshire County Council). We were grateful to have some of our children’s questions answered about issues in our area that are important to them. The Equality Team look forward to reporting back news from this event soon
