Welcome to Class Neptune!

A very warm welcome back to school after the long summer break.

The summer has passed very quickly! But we hope you are refreshed and raring to go to start your final journey at BBS. Year 6 is an exciting time bringing with it new experiences and opportunities to showcase all those learnt skills.

This term our school theme is EUREKA – a science based topic. Much of our work will be around the book “THE INVENTION OF HUGO CABRET.” It is a brilliant book, part written and part illustrated. It is set in Paris so we will be finding out more about France and it has a link to cinema too. Much of our art and design and technology work will be centred on the book.

SATs- there - we’ve said it! Yes, we need to think about these too but they are nothing to worry about and when the time comes we will prepare you for the tests.

At Barlby Bridge we value the importance of reading and developing those essential life skills that becoming a better reader brings. It is important that you take reading books home every night and these should be brought back into school the following day. Later in the week, Planners are collected in so we can see how much you are reading. Remember to get your parents to sign your planner to prove you have read.

Homework is given out each week on a Monday to further develop your learning and it is really important that you complete and hand in your homework on time which is usually the following Monday. Homework will be a mixture of reading, grammar and mathematic activities. You will also be expected to learn spellings each week.
