 Welcome to Class Jupiter

Welcome to Class Jupiter. Well Summer has flown by and it has been wonderful to spend the first week getting to know the wonderful children in our class.

Our class topic for this term is going to be learning and finding out about some of the Deadly 60 animals, Life in the Rainforest and finding out about how to plan for an expedition.

Homework will involve a range of activities including: Maths that will tend to be set using the My Maths learning platform (the children have the passwords in their Reading Record Books), spellings and reading. Reading books are sent home every night and should be brought back into school the following day – please listen and sign off reading in the planners so your child moves up our reading ladder. It is very important to listen to your child read so that they can feel confident and enjoy reading.

P.E will take place on Monday with myself where we will be looking at a range of dances from English Country Dancing to the New Zealand Haka! and Tuesday with Mr Wood. A kit for both indoor and outdoor is essential! Please remember that children with pierced ears should remove earrings for P.E days, unless they can remove them themselves prior to the lesson. Mrs Duffield will teach our class on Thursday mornings and the children will be learning Science and developing their French skills even further.

It is also important to encourage children to continue practising basic maths skills, like times tables and quick real life calculations. My Maths, Number Gym (User Name: barlbyb Password: y085aa the children have their unique login in their planners) and the Sumdog (own passwords) website can make learning these skills more fun! There is also the Oxford Owl website where the children can read on-line books free of charge. Again the children have all the pass words they need written into their planners

Please send water bottles into school with your child. These should be sports top bottles (to avoid spillages.) They help the children to concentrate and stay focused.

Thank you for your continuing support. Looking forward to continuing a great year all the way to the Christmas – which will be on us before we know!

Yours faithfully

Mr Chappell
